This is in regards to the promo/preview for tonight's episode and the fact that it is "narrated" by The Rowing Song, which is something sung by Willy Wonka in the 1971 film, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

This was from the Washington Post:

"When a preview features a poem recited during a scene titled “The Tunnel From Hell” you know you’re in a for a scary treat! The Rowers was originally a poem written by Roald Dahl in 1959. It was performed by Gene Wilder in 1971’s Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory during the iconic Tunnel From Hell scene."

I have to say that, when I read the phrase, "tunnel from hell", I instantly thought of the scene with Kate and Aaron where he comments on the train going into the tunnel. Kate's reply was something to the effect of, "if he goes in there, he isn't ever coming out."

The words to the poem are:

There's no earthly way of knowing
Which direction we are going
There's no knowing where we're rowing
Or which way the river's flowing
Is it raining? Is it snowing?
Is a hurricane a-blowing?
Not a speck of light is showing
So the danger must be growing
Are the fires of Hell a-glowing?
Is the grisly reaper mowing?
Yes! The danger must be growing
For the rowers keep on rowing
And they're certainly not showing
Any signs that they are slowing!!!Nancy Drewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04072454087916563248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5288272495923264119.post-83236696666159770522010-04-20T15:36:24.920-04:002010-04-20T15:36:24.920-04:00wo hoo...i love when im right...although i agree, ...wo hoo...i love when im right...although i agree, i think the whole trapped souls on the island thing is going to come into play in the last few episodes, as well i like your ideas on what the boy is actually say, we are definitely going to see him again i thinkLost Lindseyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03427269793262698731noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5288272495923264119.post-66078814038512160962010-04-20T08:57:28.645-04:002010-04-20T08:57:28.645-04:00Lindsey is correct, I am wrong. It appears that I ...Lindsey is correct, I am wrong. It appears that I have blurred events across the season one finale and season two premiere. The only “down” I can see in the season one finale was simply the camera shot looking up while traveling down the hatch. Although I prefer to be “mistaken”, I will wear “wrong” as a badge of honor...or maybe a battle scar.

Thanks for the Looking Glass correction, Ms. Drew.

Also, I wouldn’t put too much stock in the posts from devon.miller. I inadvertently logged in using another ID.

Regardless of your satisfaction with the explanation of the whispers, I feel there is more to come. The whispers have been around since season one and I find it hard to imagine that these trapped souls won’t play a role in the end game. If we only knew the motivations of these guys.

BOY: You know the rules. You can't kill him.

I’m starting to wonder which “rules” and which “can’t” he’s talking about...not to mention which “him”. When this scene first aired, I immediately assumed the boy was talking about some kind of agreement made that governs the struggle between Jacob and MIB and that MIB is “not allowed” to kill Sawyer.

So, it would be...

BOY: You know the [rules you must follow.] You [are not allowed to] kill [Sawyer].

But, as this season continues, I’m starting to think it’s more....

BOY: You know the [special properties of this island]. You [cannot physically and definitively] kill [Jacob.]

I think the latter may better explain MIB’s reaction to the statement.

There’s quite a few forehead wounds this season: ATL Desmond (steering wheel), ATL Jin (door frame), MTL Sun (tree), MTL Charles (I-V stand). It kind of reminds me of the endless rifle-stocks-to-the-face of seasons past.warningtraxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06838564872728882294noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5288272495923264119.post-78296710166977255812010-04-20T06:08:44.106-04:002010-04-20T06:08:44.106-04:00third post.....

Whoo hoo!! :)

Ok, before the criticism commences, I would just like to say that with only having a few episodes/hours left, it would be great if listeners would just enjoy this great mind-boggling show with us and comment on things in a respectful and courteous manner. We appreciate the feedback, but would appreciate even more to see that energy put into conjuring up awesome theories about the ending of the story. After all, we're not going anywhere yet........the island isn't finished with us :)

~Nancy DrewNancy Drewhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04072454087916563248noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5288272495923264119.post-50641003911711760842010-04-19T21:02:47.692-04:002010-04-19T21:02:47.692-04:00First post!
