As always, thanks for the kind words Eric. I am so enjoying the reWatch myself. I think Amy is starting to find her rhythm with hosting and the group is finding it's balance as well. Now all we need is a little chatter in the comments!

Thanks Eric! And Thanks, Curt....I have a great teacher :)

I wanted to post the email in here that we discussed in the podcast. It's the one about the numbers broadcast heard on the Ajira Flight in "Namaste":

Dear all,
I've just rewatched the episode "Numbers", and I'm convinced the actual numbers themselves are caught up in a loop created by Hurley himself!! Let me explain:
There is a s.5 episode not long ago in which we hear the numbers being transmitted from the island in a male voice that is almost certainly Hurleys (I believe it's from the episode where Ajira 316 is returning to the island, and the Oceanic 5 disappear in the timeflash from the plane as it passes through the time anomaly which is a window into 1974, and as the plane goes forward in time through the timeflash from the point of 1974 with the rest of the passengers intact, we then hear the transmission over the cockpit transceiver of the numbers being repeated in Hurleys voice- the plane then goes on to land in the present) Well, as the plane went forward through time, it picked up this Hurley transmission repeating the numbers from 1977 (I say its 1977 as I believe this is the year the Losties will return to the present due to the incident, so it would logically be the latest time period the 316 flight picked up the transmission from)
So if youre with me so far, Hurley made the transmission after the time travel had occurred , and Hurley himself learned the numbers before the time travel, from Leonard in the institute in 2004, and he then went on to win the win lottery with them and hence become convinced they were cursed due to certain unfortunate events occurring.

Leonard, in turn, learned the numbers together with Sam Toomey while stationed in the pacific at a U.S Navy listening station 16 years previously, which would put the time frame at 1988.
So the transmission that both Rosseau hears and that which Leonard and Sam hear is the transmission made by Hurley, so Hurley therefore learns from Leonard his OWN transmission!!

Hurley believes the first time he has come across the numbers is 2004, as thats the way time unfolded for him, when in fact he was already aware of them, he just didnt know it yet!!

So 1988, Rousseau's team hear the transmission (which is Hurleys 1977 transmission) and thats what leads her team to the island.
After her team die, she changes Hurleys transmission to her own one, which is the one the losties hear on the transceiver in 2004 when they crash!!-Hurley then goes on to see the numbers on the hatch etc and cannot believe hes seeing these same cursed numbers here now in this place and takes it as a sign they really must be cursed.
In reality, hes set himself up to believe this with his original transmission from the time travel in 1974/77 which lead to the whole numbers/curse/Hurley saga unfolding!

Also, if you think about it, if Rousseau hadnt have changed the original Hurley radio tower transmission in 1988, then when he crashed there in 2004, he would have heard his own voice repeating them, despite never having been on the island before at that point in time!!

Thank you for taking the time to work on these podcasts. It's fun to have them to compliment the rewatch. But they really need to be tightened up! The last couple ran for over four hours and three hours, respectively. That would be fine if it were full of content, but there's way too much rambling and wasted time. Please work to get some structure in the podcasts and keep things moving. I want to listen, but right now it feels like a lot of wasted time.

I hear ya Hans, it's definitely been a challenge to find the right approach. I felt this episode was the tightest yet but covering 3 and episodes is proveing to be difficult.

Alway's a pleasure. And I can't believe that I am enjoying the length of the podcasts. Alot of detail.

I had a thought while listening to you talk about Chinese symbols on necklaces and so forth. I own a copy of I-Ching. Wiki it and you'll see that the Darma logo bears a resembelance.

I thought of this ages ago but let it go because everyone else I spepak to think I'm a nerd already. Does this add to the mythology?

Hi Eric!

I think the mythology goes hand-in-hand with the symbols seen on the show. I've definitely been noticing them a lot, too with the rewatch and I see how they always tie in with the themes. I've looked into the I-Ching a few times and agree that it is definitely dharma-ish.

Hans, I couldn't agree more, but there's no getting around the length part of it, really. I think we've done a pretty good job at keeping the "recap" aspect to a minimum and tried to keep the discussions going, even if they are in all different directions. Thanks for the feedback and we'll keep working on tweaking the structure.
