When the French woman in Jack's flashback tells Christian they came for him meaning Jack. It reminded me of when Ben told Locke when he's in the armory that "I was coming for you John."

Mr. Friendly telling Jack that if he crosses the line they go from misunderstanding to something else. Reminded me of the truce between Dharma and the Hostiles.

You were asking on your podcast where Tom came from whether he was an Other or recuited.

Which made me wonder why Ben was recruiting people to the island after they had purged the Dharma Initiative?

What was the purpose of this? Was it something Jacob wanted done? Like when he brought the boat to the island? Or was it because of an agenda Ben had?

The reason why I suspect that Mr Friendly was already one of the DHARMA folks was because we'd already known that Ben was in DHARMA as well as Ethan.

I also thought the same thing about the truce and 'the line' but didn't think to bring it up. Good call.

I'm not sure where I stand on Mr. Friendly. It would seem he was in Dharma along with Ben and Ethan.

But he made this remark to Juliet.
"That Harper's a piece of work. (Chuckles) But you give her a week, she'll have you cryin' about your daddy. I'm speaking from personal experience here."

This would make it seem he was recruited after the purge like Juliet.

That's actually a great point you bring up about Tom and his comments about Harper, but I'm not sure, for me, it solidifies the timeline. Dharma was purged in 1992, so all of Ben's Others could be strays from the Initiative. It does seem that the Others that flock with Richard are a different "breed" of Others, though, doesn't it? They just seem to be different to me....

About Sayid and Hurley picking up the transmission from the 40's: Ms. Hawking never said that the Island moves through time. The quote:

"Well, this fellow presumed, and correctly, as it turned out, that the Island was always moving. Why do you think you were never rescued? Now while the movements of the Island seem random, this man and his team created a series of equations which tell us, with a high degree of probability, where it is going to be at a certain point... in time. Windows, as it were, that while open, provide a route back. Unfortunately, these windows don't stay open for very long. Yours closes... in 36 hours."

She says that the Island always moves, and doesn't qualify it with through time. What's she's talking about is figuring out where it will be (in space) at a certain point in time in order to find out exactly when a window will be open or closed, just as she's doing for them right then. This is comparable to astronomers coming up with equations to calculate where a planet is going to be at a certain point... in time. It doesn't indicate time travel.

I don't have the quote from Damon and Carlton, but I remember them talking about warp speed and I don't remember them mentioning the Island itself time traveling.

We've only seen two forms of physical time travel on the show: time dilation/travel when going to and from the Island while not staying on the bearing (payload experiment, doctor's corpse, helicopter dusk to middle of the day, 316 night to day), and wheel flashes. We've never seen the Island itself move through time, nor do I know what that would mean. Would that mean that if it traveled back in time there would be two Islands at once, one with DHARMA hatches, and one without? It just gets too unnecessarily complicated, seeing as how we've never seen any evidence of the whole Island time traveling.

In fact we've seen plenty of evidence that the Island stays in sync time-wise with the rest of the world: a live video chat between Charlie in The Looking GLass and Penny in London, live satphone calls from the Island to the freighter and from the freighter to Penny, and the fact that when the Oceanic 6 were rescued, the time that the public knew them to be gone was equal to the amount of time they experienced passing on the Island.

The most appealing answer to me is that if that broadcast they picked up is from the 40's, then the radio waves could have bounced through the barrier to the Island on a weird bearing and traveled forward in time, like the doctor's corpse in reverse. The broadcast was coming from outside the Island to inside the Island, so seems to fall firmly in the category of weird effects on the Island's barrier.

About Locke being possessed or having multiple personalities: I just don't see it. To me, he seems to be the same person whenever we see him, up until Ben kills him. He was frustrated, then he came to the Island and found what he was looking for. He probably is being influenced by forces on the Island. We know he is given dreams and uses hallucinogenic drugs at least once. But that doesn't invalidate his journey or make him a completely different person, or somehow possessed. Yes, he does express different emotions, unlike many characters who always have the same emotion, but it makes sense. He's trying to have faith in the Island, but sometimes he just can't, and falls back to how frustrated he was before he got there.

Dan,
As always, you are absolutely correct.
