Lostaholics reWatch: s05e04-05

Lostaholics reWatch of ABC's TV show, LOST. The inaugural reWatch podcast hosted by Lostaholics and Nancy Drew along with her old crew from the Black Rock complete with LostLindsey. Also on the scene is The Sargent, our newest member.

This week we revisit The Little Prince and This Place is Death.

Collectively we revisit these episodes with season 5 eyes to see if there is any new meaning to be found in these past episodes. This being the end of season it also brings to an end our ability to re-watch with season 5 eyes to a certain extent. Also, I have a screen shot and a description of how I set up for a podcast over at my Posterous blog for anyone interested in the tech behind the show.

There's no way the beam of light Locke saw when at the hatch banging on the door would look like a pillar of light, that they all saw. The light from season one projected through a small window at Locke, in answer to a question to the island. I could see the light being that bright if the hatch door had been busted off. But that would put us into a different time period, a couple of weeks after Aaron's birth.

Just like the characters in LOST have a recurring theme of lying and deceiving, I'm sure the producers and set designers are also lying to cover up blatant continuity errors. There's no way they removed the pictures and put them back on, and with different frames. Give me a break.

I agree with Sgt Draino about Christian being different to other apparitions. He's become what Locke has become. One clue is that Christian's body is never found. The other one is, that Christian seems to be travelling in the time flashes with the Losties. How else does he appear near the donkey wheel. Christian wasn't around when the four toed statue was around (that I know). So one can only assume Christian has flashed with the Losties.

I think the french team experience a similar experience to Ben when coming from under the temple wall. They must have been threatened by a manifestation of the smoke monster. Ben had an experience that changed him. Alex knew he was already planning to kill Locke. And Smokey changed his way of thinking, similar to how the perspective changed for the frnech team.

The beam of light does seem a bit strong, but I think its quiet possible because the environment was foggy and there was also some mist in the air, so from far away it is possible to have pillar of light like that due to atmospheric conditions.

With the hatch door open like in season 2 premier, yes I could see it. But with the hatch door on, I have my doubts.

I guess they just tried to make it very dramatic, so that Locke could say "I needed that pain, because I know what I am supposed to do now" or something like that.

One thing doesn't make sense to me, when Locke goes down the well, and suddenly there is a flash again, how come the rope is still there and the well is all filled up? Why would anybody fill the hole and leave a rope, is it just for the Sawyer to pull and Miles to say "you can let go of that"..?

Just wanted to say that Sergeant Drano is a great addition to the awesome team you guys have. Has he thought about doing a podcast? I think he'd do a great job.

One thing that might explain the beam of light from the Swan--Daniel said that the light on the island didn't scatter right. Maybe this affects the beam, too.

Also, I wonder if Christian's body will end up being significant to the storyline somehow, similar to that of Ilana and Bram bringing Locke's body to the beach. There's an Ancient Egyptian ritual, usually performed in a temple, that unites a king to his "ka" in order to make him a deity, as well. Maybe the temple on the island is used for just that purpose.....to unite the spirit and the body into one (think Wendy sewing Peter Pan's shadow onto him, haha).

Y'all need to watch season one again, then you'll agree with me. I tell you the light coming from the small window in the hatch door was not bright enough to do that.

On the Christian's body topic; someone on another podcast show mentioned that maybe nemesis has power over the dead, while Jacob has power of life. Maybe Nemesis can take a dead person and reincarnate it. While Jacob has the ability to heal and revive the dead. Jacob must have touched Christian, while Nemesis touched Locke, and takes his form but leave the body behind.
