Lostaholics reWatch of ABC's TV show, LOST. The inaugural reWatch podcast hosted by Lostaholics and Nancy Drew along with her old crew from the Black Rock complete with LostLindsey. Also back on the scene is Heath & Ms Wendy from LOST Revisited Now. And, as if that wasn't enough even James is back if only to remind us how hard core we are! Collectively we revisit these episodes with season 5 eyes to see if there is any new meaning to be found in these past episodes.

Your comment about "created life where life wasn't supposed to be": I have always considered Ji Yeon to fall in that catagory. She wouldn't have been possible unless conceived on the island. As we know, pregnant women that conceive island die, along with their babies. However Sun and the rest were never "supposed" to leave. Therefore, Ji Yeon was never supposed to be.

Just stopping by here to tell you how great your podcast is, I've been listening since day 1! You guys are great!
I was also wondering if you guys watch the new show called "Flashforward", because many people say that this show tries to appeal to Lost fans. They even had Oceanic Airlines ad in the background in one of the scenes. But today I watched episode 3, it has to do with 137 seconds, which is how long the people blacked out for on entire planet. What is interesting is how they got 137, it is from hebrew word Kaballah, when spelled in hebrew it will add up to 137.
So this kind of made me think, and try to find out what Lost numbers mean in hebrew. Here is a little research I did:
4 - Letter Dalit - The image of Daleth is a gate, an entrance, and an exit. For the initiated person Daleth is the gate or entrance to the inner Light, to Knowledge and Wisdom, to order and structure, and to a new foundation on which new life can be built.
8 - Letter Hheth - Hhaith is the term for the profession of a tailor; and hiyeth is the action of sewing. Both word imply the making of a garment. In the spiritual sense a robe is the symbol of the physical body. The soul has taken on a physical body like man dresses himself with a garment. Hmmm... didn't Jacob do something like than in Season 5?
15 and 16 is really strange! Those numbers are exceptions, they represent the names of God, but I couldn't find the actual names...but could it be two Gods?? Jacob and the other guy, Gods?
23 - the only thing I found was some passage on google, passage number 23 and it contains this:
"For there is no enchantment with Jacob, neither is there any divination with Israel; now is it said of Jacob and of Israel: 'What hath God wrought!"
42 - I couldn't really calculate and find letter for this number, because I don't really know hebrew, but here is what I found from wikipedia:
There were 42 Ancient Egyptian Gods in Egypt and in order to get to heaver (I think), the guy had to name all of them or else...
In Kaballah, 42 is the number with which God creates the Universe, and it represents Endless or Infinity.
Number 108 - couldn't find much, but might be even more significant then all this research, and perhaps the answer to LOST!
Wow, I said a lot, anyway, hopefully you can use this info somehow in discussion and it is always a pleasure to listen to you all debate :)

I just started to listen to this particular podcast (yes it's late), as I'm downloading a few and I'm in catch up mode.
One thing I'd like to touch upon when I listened was about the point that Ben knows what the future holds. I don't think he does, but he has received flashes, just like Desmond. In the episode 'Catch22' we get a glispe at what a flash is like for Desmond and must be the same for any others that have had a similar experience. And it also might be similar how the people in the show FlashForward receive glispses of the future.
OK we know that Widmore/Hawking have had the future revealed to them, and that is through Daniel Faraday's journal, but it fails to give details about anything else, except for what Daniel knows. So the question of how Hawking knew when Desmond turned up in the jeweller, baffles me. The journal then becomes a mixed up puzzle, where those reading it must put back together to figure the events out. Now we don't know if Widmore & Hawking have ever been scanned by the smoke monster, which is also a source of flashes and therefore more puzzle pieces.
But my theory on how Ben has knowledge of the future goes back to 1977, where he was taken to the Temple. He lost his innocence and is the reason for the way he acts and behaves. Something must have happened in the Temple. Maybe he undergone a procedure that healed him from the Gunshot wound from Sayid and he saw flashes of the future. Whether it be a feature of the temple or whether Jacob gave him this gift or another means remains to be answered.
But to add to the discussion of whether Ben knows the future is not true, nor is it true for any character on the show. Rather anyone with the gift or has been given the chance has only received flashes of the future. They are merely only pieces to a puzzle, and the pieces have to be put together to determine the whole picture. Coincidentally the show is a puzzle, with the implementation of flashbacks. In the beginning we'd only been exposed to what we saw but over 5 seasons pieces of the puzzle have been put back together to result in the overall arc of the story and also the way we see the characters and how they have developed. Which is an intriguing way to write a story, and why LOST is so unique.
