Lostaholics reWatch: s04e11--14
Lostaholics reWatch of ABC's TV show, LOST. The inaugural reWatch podcast hosted by Lostaholics and Nancy Drew along with her old crew from the Black Rock complete with LostLindsey. Also on the scene is The Sargent, our newest member. Collectively we revisit these episodes with season 5 eyes to see if there is any new meaning to be found in these past episodes. This being the end of season it also brings to an end our ability to re-watch with season 5 eyes to a certain extent.

That's an interesting theory Sgt Draino, about Mrx being reincarnated as this baby lock this time around to work his loop-hole, but there's one flaw. The Jacob we saw in the Incident, which revived Locke. Would have been reviving his nemesis. But the theory makes sense that he can't kill anyone, and we know he hasn't made the ranks of a killer until the Naomi back stab. Then killing two others in Season 5 "The Lie".
I'm thinking John Locke in the real world is a loser, not special at all. It's the island that makes him the person we know he is. It's the mere chance he was able to time jump that made him unique in the eyes of Richard. Then is reaffirmed by Jack to never give up on him.
In the first season of Lost, when Locke first met his mom at the store. An investigator told John that his mom suffers from schizophrenia. I'm tending towards the theory that Locke also has a split personaility. On the island he believes he is Mr know it all, and off island he's just plain jane john. Being schizo has been known as a mental disease, maybe Jack has been right all along, and John is talking crazy about the island controlling things. We know things don't happen like that in real life.
When y'all spoke about the number of Dharma Initiative's that died, and you speculated about over 100 people living there, you are probably right about most of them leaving during the incident, but another thing that is possible, is that Ben isn't the only one that defected to the Hostiles. We know Ethan joined, and possibly Amy. So there's a possiblity alot of of the DI joined the hostiles.
In your last podcast Nancy mentioned the website http://theloopholelostforum.com/. I checked it out and found this link: http://www.timelooptheory.com/. Check it out and you will find an amazing theory of what is happening on the island with several time lines....think Mobius strip. Some fascinating stuff.

Cabin Fever
How big is this opening. Locke's lineage suggesting he was special from the start. Clearly lays out John's connection to the Island since birth. The question is... Is Jacob protecting John a la the Island isn't done with you or is John the re-incarnation of Jacob? not-Jacob? The drawing of the Smoke pillar seems to tell us there is some level of 'awareness' of the island (or an awareness of the future?). More aptly perhaps might be that he is the son of Jacob. I think John is the Son of Jacob.

Season 1 - They come - The crash
Season 2 - They fight - Meet the others
Season 3 - They destroy - Locke blows up everything in his path
Season 4 - They corrupt - Desmond corrupts time
But will it end the same?
Nice theory Curt. It makes me think that the greyed haired man is behind the time-jumping. Or he made it possible, as he says, it always ends the same. How many times has it ended or gone around. Jacob believes it only ends once, so either he doesn't know about the time travel or he doesn't want to be involved. Nevertheless he has aplan as Ben always has.

I think the reason Richard came to visit the young Locke was to confirm if in fact that this is Locke. Thats why he brought all those things, and young Locke, just like Desmond had a memory of the past, the 1954, so in a way the older Locke created his own memory but it was kind of vague until he came to the island.
But, then when I saw Richard over-react when Locke picks the knife, I thought that was the knife that killed Jacob, so Richard already knew that Locke is going to kill Jacob?
Also, the little glass with sand, or ash, I believe the others carry this with them to repel the smoke monster. Maybe thats why it was around the cabin, to repel the smoke monster just like the sonic wall did.
Very interesting block, the season finale couldn't been any better for season 4, indeed!
The question is, how does Richard know about Locke's future for him to place those items before him. It had only been two years since he saw him. So how was he able to know about the knife, vial, etc. If Richard knew Locke better than we think, then one must have to summize that he is able to time-travel. That means he is more special than we are lead to believe.
JayJay, that's a good question, maybe Richard was collecting those items over the years from Locke's life with the knife being the last item to collect. Perhaps, the visit to young Locke is more significant then we thought, it determines the outcome of future events (if he picks the knife - Jacob will die...).
So if we re-phrase Mr.X now:
"It always ends the same.... he always picks the knife, you always die, Jacob."
Jacob:
"No, it only ends once, he doesn't pick the knife, and I live..."
With season 5 eyes, I thought Richard wasn't that special. Now come to think of it, Richard must be able to time travel to be able to know about Locke's future. How else was he to know about those items playing a part in Locke's life.
